The Epic Man – 2014

The Epic Man adventure celebrated its sixth year, with the crew riding their bikes from Portland, ME to Hopkinton, MA (139 miles – and overnight), and then running the Boston Marathon. Here is the photo gallery, including the warm-up run in Portland.  #alwaysbeepic

Tour of the Battenkill – 2014

New York has many events that offer an exciting weekend for folks of the cycling sort (know any?), but surely one of the finest is the world-class Tour of the Battenkill, held each Spring in the Battenkill Valley around Cambridge.

This weekend’s extravaganza featured an internationally renowned Pro/Am road race series, a pair of Gran Fondos, and the Tour of Cambridge for younger riders – all supported in grand style by the people of the Cambridge area.

Boston’s Hub on Wheels – 2013

The 2013 edition of the popular Hub on Wheels bike ride and festival began with a downpour just as the sun should have been coming up, but with each passing mile the clouds disappeared and the day was, in toto, as successful as ever.

TD Bank Mayor’s Cup – Boston 2013

The 2013 edition of the TD Bank Mayor’s Cup took place in Boston on September 27th, and was blessed with great weather and big crowds. As has become a tradition, this was the last race on the National Criterium Calendar, and the season ended with a bang.

With a radically changed course, the fifth edition of the Boston Triathlon was certainly the best ever. Check it out at: http://bostontri.com

The Maine Lobster Ride 2013

There are bike rides that are well-presented, and there are bike rides that take place in locations of immense beauty. For the 12th year, the Bicycle Coalition of Maine served up a super winner with both … and perfect weather and a classic lobster roll lunch to boot. It took place on July 21st, with rides heading both north and south from Rockland (and some comprising both routes). Definitely a class act, and one that serves to stimulate interest in the upcoming ride of the season: the inaugural BikeMaine tour in September. Check it out.

A Truly Awesome Journey

A few days ago, we had the distinct pleasure of riding with the team from Our Ability, accompanying Messrs John Robinson and Doug Hamlin as they powered their bikes along the route of the Erie Canal — more than 350 miles from near Buffalo to Albany. What makes this so special (and hugely inspiring) is that John has no lower arms or legs, and Doug has lost the use of his legs. What an amazing tribute to the power of the bicycle and the human spirit.

Photos were prepared in cooperation with the New York Bicycling Coalition.
