New York has many events that offer an exciting weekend for folks of the cycling sort (know any?), but surely one of the finest is the world-class Tour of the Battenkill, held each Spring in the Battenkill Valley around Cambridge.

There are bike rides that are well-presented, and there are bike rides that take place in locations of immense beauty. For the 12th year, the Bicycle Coalition of Maine served up a super winner with both … and perfect weather and a classic lobster roll lunch to boot. It took place on July 21st, with rides heading both north and south from Rockland (and some comprising both routes). Definitely a class act, and one that serves to stimulate interest in the upcoming ride of the season: the inaugural BikeMaine tour in September. Check it out.
